Losing a loved one is never easy. Fortunately, there are individual counseling, local grief support groups, and online websites that may help in working through your grief.
GriefShare is a nationwide network of groups of people who meet weekly to share and support each other during the grief recovery process. Visit www.griefshare.org to find a support group near you.
Online resources include discussion forums, educational tools, and a community for people who are dealing with grief. You may find one or more of the following websites to be helpful:
GriefNet is an internet community of persons dealing with grief, death, and major loss, with over 50 email support groups. They have bereavement professionals who oversee all our groups, so no one gets overlooked.
Widownet is an online information and self-help resource for, and by, widows and widowers. Topics covered include grief, bereavement, recovery, and other related topics
Grieving.com is a forum resource with more than 45,000 active members. Topics range from terminal illness and sudden death to the loss of a pet. It was previously owned by Beyond Indigo, but it is now under the Komorebi umbrella with the founder Kelly Baltzell.
MISS Foundation is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization supporting people of all ages through the process of grieving the death of a child. They have a face-to-face support group and an online support site that is available worldwide.
Recover From Grief provides information about the grieving process as well as coping strategies. Its webmaster and editor, Jennie, is a licensed and registered critical care nurse (R.N.) with over 20 years of critical care experience. She became a Certified Grief Counselor in 2007.
Unfortunately, Jennie has retired from Recover From Grief due to health issues. The site is now being managed by her good friend, Matthew.
The Grief Toolbox offers articles, other resources, an online art gallery, and a support group locator to help support individuals in the grieving process.
