Chief of Police Oscar Silva Jr.

Oscar Silva Jr., 35, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Silva was a licensed peace officer for over 10 years. He served as an Assistant Chief for the City of El Cenizo, Texas Police Department and as a Sergeant of the City of Encinal, Texas Police Department. He was seen by his family and friends as a beacon of optimism who was never angry and never appeared to stress about anything. He was a positive force of good, and a reflection of humility, sincerity and humor. Hedrew people together with his undeniable magnetism. He always gave every bit of himself to help others. He was a great son, brother, father, as well as a phenomenal chef and pit-master. Mr. Silva will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Oscar Silva Jr. died a superlative, honorable, magnanimous human being. Anyone who met him, walked away a better person for having known him.

Mr. Silva is preceded in death by his mother, Hermelinda Silva Bautista.

Left to cherish his memory is his father, Oscar Silva, Sr.; daughter, Reilynn Silva; siblings, Javier Silva and Celinda Silva; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Guadalupe Silva; maternal grandmother, Hermelinda Enciso. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A rosary will be recited on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Gámez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A funeral service liturgy will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A committal service will follow to the City of Laredo Cemetery from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Cremation will be held at a later date.
