Omar "El Viejon" Chavez Gonzalez, 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Laredo, TX.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Adan & Guadalupe Chavez; siblings, Adan Chavez Jr. and Miroslava Rios.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Maria Guadalupe Chavez; children, Homar Chavez Jr., Cynthia Martinez (Homero), and Marlene Chavez Gonzalez (+ Luis Felipe); grandchildren Jorge Martinez, Debanhi Gonzalez, Alan Martinez, Luis Gonzalez, Happi Gonzalez, and Israel Gonzalez; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rodolfo Chavez and Guadalupe Gonzalez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other retalives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services from 5 pm to 9 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm.
Services will conclude at the end of visitation. A private cremation will be held at a later date.
