Mary Ellen Chase

Mary Ellen Chase, 78, of Laredo, TX., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Doctors Hospital of Laredo. Born on April 9, 1948 in New Orleans, LA to Jacob Charles “Bucket” Hollenberg & Mary Ellen Dunn.

Mary Ellen was a woman of deep purpose and even deeper faith. She spent a long, productive career as a dispatcher for the Kenner Fire Department, a role she held with immense pride. Outside of work, she was happiest in her garden or birdwatching with her "Honey". Her greatest treasure was her relationship with Christ. Whether remembered for her kindness as "Mrs. Mary" or for her spiritual mentorship, her legacy remains clear: she didn't just speak about her faith; she taught others how to truly live it and how to pray. 

Mary Ellen is survived by her daughters, Shannon McBurnette-Arguelles & Brande’ McBurnette; grandson, Leo Arguelles; sisters, Mindy Gomez & Christine Arnoult; Sister-in-Law, Kerrie Hollenberg; nieces, Lynette Vierra, Tiffany Gaspar, Christine Gomez, Skye Montelaro, and Jayde Mary Ellen Arnoult. 

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her “Honey”, Charles L. Chase Sr.; her grandbabies, Pilito & “Peanut”; brother, Charles “Chuck” Hollenberg Jr.; nephew, Simon Hollenberg.
