Librada S. Calderon, 87, was called by her Lord on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in Laredo, Texas.
Librada “Libby” Calderon, was a dear and cherish parish member of Holy Family Catholic Church for over 35 years. Libby, a faithful servant of God and the parish community, dedicated her time for many years to caring for the special needs of Holy Family. She served as the church sacristán and would open the church for Mass and funerals, always ensuring that it was done on time to receive the faithful who were coming to honor and praise God. Libby was known and loved by all the parishioners of Holy Family and especially the pastor, Fr. Nolasco, who is most grateful for her many years of her devout ministry to the parish. She will be greatly missed for her dedicated service and love for Holy Family Church. The Calderon Family would like to thank Fr. Nolasco and the parishioners of Holy Family for the love and warmth she received throughout the years
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Concepcion & Modesta Sarabia, husband, Jose Ma. Calderon, Sr., sisters, Maria Refugio Salinas, Nicholasa Garza, Guadalupe Zamora, grandson, Jose Ma. Calderon, III and granddaughter, Sarah E. Aguirre.
She is survived by the her children, Maria Magdalena (Norberto) Aguirre, Jose Maria (Rachel) Calderon Jr., Jose Antonio (Maria) Calderon, grandchildren, Melissa R. (Wesley) Dunlap, Elizabeth A. (Paul Sanchez) Aguirre, Rebecca L. Calderon, Roy A. (Brittany) Calderon, Arlene L. (Fernando Tays) Calderon , Jannaye R. (Armando) Macias, great-grandchildren, Benjamin Sanchez, Nathan A. Tays, Athena M. Calderon, Mckayla S. Macias, Cassian A. Calderon, Ricardo A. Macias, Atticus E. Calderon, sisters, Josefa (Reymundo†) De Hoyos, Luisa (Oscar†) Gonzalez, and Maria (Santiago†) Anaya, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services where a vigil of the deceased will commence at 6:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church where a mass will be celebrated at 9:15 a.m.
Interment will follow immediately at the Laredo City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Roy A. Calderon, Fernando Tays, Armando Macias, Norberto Aguirre, Wesley Dunlap, and Ricardo Macias
Funeral services are under the arrangement of Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 1029 Bob Bullock Loop, Laredo, Texas 78043.
