Juanita R. Mata, 76, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Mata; parents, Emilio Herrera & Maria del Carmen Herrera; children, Alfredo Mata, Jesus Mata; siblings, Patricia Herrera, Martina Ramirez.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jose Juan Mata, Martin Mata, Maria Cristina Mata, Alberto Mata, David Mata, Esmeralda Mata Schoonveld, Maricela Mata Perez (Jose Reynaldo III), Elsa Mata (Alejandro Ortegon), Jorge Mata, Ernesto Mata (Brenda Casiano), and Alexandro Mata; 21 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings: Maria Teresa Dominguez (†Jose Jr.), Magdalena Mata (†Manuel Mata), Maria Guadalupe Herrera (Armando), Rosalinda Juarez (Fernando), and Emilio Herrera Jr.; brother-in-law, Lucio Ramirez; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 5 to 9pm at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, where a Rosary will be held at 7pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 7 to 8:30am at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Serivices, where we will be departing the funeral home chapel at 8:30am to St. Frances Mother Cabrini Catholic Church for a Mass at 9am.

Interment will follow to the City of Laredo Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Alberto Mata, Martin Mata, Jorge Mata, Ernesto Mata, Pablo Ortegon, John Ortegon, and Elvis Lopez Jr.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services.
