Jose “Joe” Valentin Hernandez, 76, was called by the Lord on July 30, 2015.
Jose Valentin Hernandez, also known as “Joe”, was born February 14, 1939 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He married the love of his life, Leonor Prado, and they were married for 54 wonderful years and moved to Chicago, Il. Where they lived for over 15 years and moved to Laredo, Texas. Where he opened his own business, “Joe’s Auto Transmission” for over 40 years. He was known to many as “Joe, El Mecanico”, by his many loyal customers. He was an honest and giving person and was always ready to help someone in need. He touched many people’s lives because of his amazing easy going and kind personality, his big generous heart and his great sense of humor. He made friends very easily because he was outgoing and adventurous. He was a devoted Catholic, a loving, faithful and caring husband, an amazing father and father in law, a fun and loving grandfather and a great brother, brother in law and uncle.
He left us too early, but we are consoled knowing that he is in Heaven with Our Lord. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco & Guadalupe Hernandez, and siblings: Federico Hernandez and Amelia Moreno.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Leonor P. Hernandez, children: Rosie (Guillermo) Rodman, Martha (Mitchel) Zunker, Leticia (William) Jones, and Jose (Juanita) Valentin Hernandez Jr., 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, siblings: Jose Apolinar Hernandez, Jose Francisco Hernandez, Jose Luis Cardenas, Leovigilda Gonzalez, and Martha Gonzalez, many nieces and nephews that admired and loved him, other relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving guests on Sunday, August 2, 2015, from 5pm to 9pm at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 1029 Bob Bullock 78043, where a rosary will be recited at 7pm. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 3, 2015, from the funeral home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 8:30am. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266, where a graveside service will commence at 1:30pm.
