Humberto Adame Sr., 86, beloved son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, life-long educator and friend has gone to be with the Lord in Heaven on May 18, 2025. Our beloved Humberto dedicated his life to forming the minds of future leaders that would make Laredo proud. He followed God's ways truly and deeply as a devout Christian Catholic, having been a part of and attending St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Humberto was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, and was a part of its public school system. During his high school formative years, Humberto found his passion for track and field, something that he excelled in. His track and field career started at Martin High School during his sophomore year. In 1955, he competed against 150 runners in the state meet and was crowned State Champion. During the 1956 Border Olympics games, he broke the mile run record. He was offered a scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He was also inducted into the Latin American International Hall of Fame in 1978.
After college, he returned to Laredo to begin his teaching and coaching career. He spent the majority of his career with the United Independent School District, as an educator, coach, principal and school administrator.
Humberto's strong worth ethic has been instilled to his entire family. He always encouraged his children, grandchildren, students and athletes to work hard to achieve goals.
May his memory forever be a blessing to all that knew and loved him.
